British Sign Language

BSL

We know how important it is to ensure our advice is accessible to anyone who needs it. It’s estimated that 1 in 6 adults in the UK is affected by some form of hearing loss - that’s why we take every step we can to tailor our advice to the needs of our deaf and hard of hearing clients.

Sign language appointments

You can also book an appointment through TOPPS, who provide both BSL (British Sign Language) and SSE (Sign Supported English) support. We understand people need different forms of support and this allows you to book whichever type of interpreter is right for you.

A TOPPS appointment will need to be arranged in advance and can be booked by filling out the online booking form ↗. Alternatively, this can be arranged by our staff. If the appointment is to be done via video, the interpreter and yourself will both be sent a link to join the video platform, either via text message or to your email address.

Text-based advice

We know that some people need to see information written down - that’s why our advisers are always happy to provide advice in whatever format suits you best. We offer a dedicated webchat service, meaning you can communicate with us solely through text if you require.

BT Relay

For all of our telephone services, we offer BT Relay support - allowing clients to speak to us through an interpreter, without the need to book an appointment. Clients can contact us through the Relay app, which will allow them to speak to us via BSL interpreter in real time.

This is all done remotely, so there’s no need for any appointments or for anyone to be in the same place. To access the Relay UK service, clients can visit the BT Relay web page ↗ or download the app ↗.

Email us

If you email us, you can specify any special requirements you may have, so our advisers can contact you in your preferred format and in a way that is suited to your needs.
